James is an award-winning carver based on the West Coast. He started carving in the early 1990s, initially working with bone and wood before progressing to pounamu in 2001. James studied Fine Arts and has attained a Diploma in Jade and Hardstone Carving from Tai Poutini Polytechnic in Greymouth.
